Westchester – Redmond

The established community of Westchester is one of the Eastside’s most exceptional neighborhoods. Westchester offers homes of the highest caliber on sprawling acre-plus home sites and is located only 10 minutes from the heart of Redmond. This premier neighborhood enjoys the close-knit feeling that is reminiscent of the ’50s and yet boasts handsome homes that are traditionally styled and suggestive of an English manor. With land getting harder and harder to find and restrictions on building becoming more fierce, estate-sized lots are a thing of the past. The combination of lovely, large homes sited on notably sizable lots makes for continued assurance of rising values.

Like other Eastside neighborhoods built by the Buchan Brothers, Westchester enjoys notoriety as a premier neighborhood. The homes were built by both John and William Buchan in the late 1980s and early 1990s and offer the character, style and details expected by these excellent builders. Buchan homes do very well in resale because buyers know that their name is synonymous with quality. There are those buyers out there that will only entertain the idea of a Buchan-built home and settle for nothing less. The lovely homes in Westchester range in size from 3000 to 5000+ sq ft. Along with the handsome brick exteriors, the interiors feature such rooms as gourmet kitchens, elegant formal living rooms and dining rooms, dens, front and rear staircases and bonus or media rooms. The attention to finish detail is unsurpassed and includes extensive millwork and architectural detailing. To further assure property values, the neighborhood association adheres to a standard set of CC&R’s.

Served by two entrances off of Novelty Hill Road, Westchester is conveniently located just 10-15 minutes from the little Mecca that has become downtown Redmond. With the mall concept known as Redmond Town Center, Redmond has become the gathering place for those seeking trendy restaurants, stylish boutiques and movie theaters. Hop on the 520 freeway and in less than 20 minutes you can be in downtown Bellevue or in Seattle in less than 30 minutes. This is truly having it all – the beauty of nature with tall evergreens and an occasional deer in your backyard, a wonderful sense of community, and attractive homes on expansive lots.

In addition, this neighborhood is served by the acclaimed Lake Washington School District. The children of Westchester attend Emily Dickinson Elementary which is the sister school to Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary – two of the most highly sought-after elementary schools in the district. Evergreen Junior High is adjacent to Emily Dickinson and Redmond High School is conveniently located across the boulevard on Education Hill.
